HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR CREATIVE DESIRES AND RECEIVE PLEASURE AND HEAL YOUR AZN SHAME OF NOT BEING ENOUGH: FOR CREATIVE ASIAN PACIFIC ISLANDER AMERICAN WOMXN AND FEMMES

(Note: this workshop is the same as previous workshop of same title that ran on October 27. Previous workshop participants are welcome to participate again!)

This workshop is for you if you are a creative womxn / femme of Asian American and Pacific Islander American descent for all creative experiences and all creative levels.

This workshop is for you if you are tired of (mostly white) wellness spaces that do not center your singular and specific and unique experiences and challenges as an APIA womxn / femmes.

Things like: complicated immigrant family dynamics.

The particular pressures and expectations of being first / 1.5 / second-generation / (x)-generation.

The stigma of mental illness and the concept of saving face.

The cultural expectation of academic excellence and external benchmarks of success at all costs, sometimes at the expense of mental wellness, spiritual wholeness, creative expression, and emotional vulnerability.

Immigrant child guilt. Who are you to pursue creativity, pleasure, and a holistic inspired life when your family worked so hard to get you here?

The soul-corrosive, longterm mindfuck and psychic trauma of forced cultural assimilation, internalized racism, strucutral racism, and the impostor syndrome of not fully fitting in with both American or Asian social expectations of conformity, and experiencing both flavors of Western and Eastern misogyny and sexism.

Not to mention ancestral trauma, intergenerational trauma, and some really messed up cultural expectations such as obedience and subservience to your elders no matter what, not speaking out loud your truth for the sake of collective harmony, the glorification of hard work and no rest, failure not being an option, mistakes being seen as shameful, and choosing your own unique and singular life path that does not guarantee financial success / stability as betrayal to your parents and lineage.

LOL, NBD!

No wonder some of you, in the face of these circumstances, may be feeling stuck, uninspired, lost, scared, confused, unsure, uncertain, anxious, fearful about daring to allow your own creative desires to even exist in the first place.

Here is what I desire for you:

+ A safe space where your APIA identity and experiences are front and center, in community and in conversation with other APIA creative womxn and femmes.

+ A safe space where your particular unique cultural challenges as an APIA creative womxn / femme are acknowledged and seen.

+ A safe space where you are empowered with the agency and freedom to claim your creative joy, your pleasure, your abundance, and your desires to live your own authentic life path as a birthright, not a frivolous luxury.

+ To reclaim your relationship with your desires, your body, your sensuality, your creativity, your joy, your excitement, your passion, your own sacred inner spark that makes you feel the most alive.

+ To be unapologetic about living a creative life whatever that means to you however you define it on your own terms, to honor your origins while consciously choosing the narrative you desire to live by and create by instead of replicating subliminal cultural scripts that do not serve your highest good.

HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR CREATIVE DESIRES AND RECEIVE PLEASURE AND HEAL YOUR AZN SHAME OF NOT BEING ENOUGH (we love long epic workshop titles) will empower you with the following tools, skills, resources, rituals, meditations, and action steps:

+ An introduction to meditation and basic mindfulness practice
+ Community dialogue and conversation around creativity, visibility, pleasure, desires with other APIA womxn and femmes
+ Transmuting deeply rooted cultural / familial / familial shame around creativity, pleasure, receiving, deserving, worthiness through writing prompts and creative exercises
+ Uncovering and activating your own unique and singular passions, joys, and creative desires through writing prompts and creative exercises
+ Guided creative visualizations by Yumi
+ Conscious movement exercises by Janet for reconnecting with your body's wisdom and creative intuition
+ Mapping out your own action plan of daily creative practice and daily self-care pleasure practice that is about exploration, pleasure, experimentation, process, self-discovery, and play. NOT self-flagellating discipline, external benchmarks of success, work and no rest.

Come prepared to the workshop with writing utensils, and comfortable clothing for movement.
